Save the Date for STEAM Fest
Dear Wolfpack,

Thank you to all the wonderful families that came to support The Matties film festival on Friday - it was great to see so many people! Congratulations to all the students who worked so hard on producing such creative films. 

Save the date for our next academy fundraiser which is right around the corner - STEAM Fest, hosted by the STEAM Academy and PTSA on March 22nd after school (see the flyer below). 

This week's highlights:

  • Wednesday 3/13 - Friends of IHP meeting in person and zoom @7pm
  • Wednesday 3/13 - last NJHS informational meeting for 6th/7th graders
  • Thursday 3/14 - 7th/8th grade Instrumental Concert
  • See's Candy Spring Fundraiser - ends this week, March 15
  • 8th grade grad nite/activities sign up deadline extended to 3/24
  • The School Experience Survey is open and your voice matters.
  • Reed Budget Survey (English/Spanish) - have a say on where and how our money is spent.

Enjoy sweet spring treats while supporting Reed at the same time!

Our virtual candy store is now open. 20–50% of every purchase from See’s chocolate eggs, boxed chocolates, and more will go towards PTSA programs and activities that support all Reed students.

NJHS last Informational Meeting

6th & 7th grade students who are interested in applying to the National Junior Honors Society are invited to attend the last informational session in Room 150:

  • Wednesday March 13 (before school at 7:40 am)

The application deadline is Monday March 18 at 3:30 pm. 

STEAM Fest Fundraiser 3/22

The STEAM Academy fundraiser is taking place on Friday, March 22 straight after school (minimum day) in Schall Park. Click the flyer for details. All students and families are welcome to come along and enjoy an afternoon of STEAM themed activities. Concessions will be available too. 

Parents, as always we need volunteers for this event so click this link to go to the sign up genius and see if you are able to offer some time to help out - we really appreciate your support!

Funds raised from academy fundraisers go towards supporting all academies equally.

Slate of Nominees for 2024/25 PTSA Executive Board Elections

The Nominating Committee presented the following slate of nominees at the Team Reed meeting on Wednesday February 21, 2024:

Treasurer - Tamar Perron

VP Membership - open

Auditor - Rochelle Lewis

Historian - Blessy Britanico

Elections will be held at the next Team Reed meeting on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Nominations will also be taken from the floor for any of the above positions. 

Parent Engagement
Attention 8th Grade Parents - deadline extended

Please visit teamreed.org and click on Programs/Events > 8th Grade & Grad Night to purchase your student's Jr. Grad Nite ticket before March 24. There are paper forms in the office if you don't have access online. Please also consider donating additional funds towards the 8th Grade Dance and Fun Day, as these events are funded solely by your donations. Thank you!

Here are important dates at a glance:

  • May 2 – Awards Night

  • May 24 – Jr. Grad Nite at Magic Mountain - $100/student

  • May 31 – 8th Grade Dance

  • June 7 – Fun Day

  • June 10 – Culmination

There will be an 8th grade parent meeting on March 20 at 6:00 pm via zoom - details in the newsletter next week.

LAUSD School Experience Survey

Your feedback is valuable! Following the collection of data from last year's school experience survey, Reed has implemented several modifications to address your concerns. These include the introduction of supplementary after-school enrichments, allocation of more staff for campus security, and the incorporation of culturally relevant literature, among others. 

Share your experiences to help Reed identify areas that are effective and ones that require improvement.We need 100% participation. Please click here to complete the survey by March 22. Thank you for your input!

The Reed Staff Lounge is Maintained 100% Through Donations

We like to keep our wonderful Reed staff fully stocked with coffee and tea supplies in their Staff Lounge, but we rely on donations to keep it going! Volunteer Opportunities
Become an LAUSD Approved Volunteer

Be sure to get your LAUSD volunteer status processed or renewed! Volunteers must be approved YEARLY. So if you were an approved volunteer you need to renew your application, or if you are new to volunteering you must complete the application for the first time!

All volunteers must be approved (proof of COVID vaccination no longer required) if you want to be able to help out with in-person events during school hours.

Please note that going forward LAUSD requires ALL volunteers to be fully approved through the district application process. There will be no more one time volunteer approvals.
