Looking to Get More Involved? VOLUNTEER!

Whether you have 30 minutes— or larger chunks of time— your willingness to volunteer makes a big difference in the life of our school!  When adults volunteer, all students benefit! There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved, and your help is needed.

 

Plus, the best part is that you can help at the level that works for you. Most Reed MS volunteers work full or part time, which makes everyone's service extra important! We'd love to see some new faces! So take a look at some current needs we have, complete the Volunteer Interest form to let us know

Get Processed Through LAUSD to Volunteer DURING THE INSTRUCTIONAL DAY WITH STUDENTS

Be sure to get your LAUSD volunteer status processed and approved (including proof of vaccination if you want to be able to help out with in-person events on campus during instructional hours.

PARENT REPRESENTATIVES: FoR and PTSA are actively seeking parents to represent and advocate for each academy at our shared monthly board meetings. We want each academy to have a voice and a seat at the table and would like 2 parents representing each of our academies: ESA, GLA, Humanities, IHP, MAT, and STEAM. Academy parent rep duties would include attending one FoR/PTSA meeting/month (Wednesday evenings at 7pm) and helping to communicate and coordinate with your academy on one school-wide fundraising event or initiative, co-hosted by PTSA.

 

PTSA HISTORIAN: PTSA Board member that keeps track of the Board's accomplishments and tracks volunteer hours. In addition, historian duties would include attending one FoR/PTSA meeting/month (Wednesday evenings at 7pm) and one PTSA Executive Board meeting/month.

 

PTSA REFLECTIONS ART CHAIR:  Helps to run and execute the National PTA Reflections Program  at Reed. Duties include going to training to become familiar with the program, publicizing the program to teachers/students including how to participate, selecting impartial, qualified judges and informing them of the judging guidelines, collecting entries and ensuring forms are properly completed, submitting to district PTA, and recognizing student participants with awards.

 

8th GRADE EVENTS COMMITTEE: Work with school 8th grade committee and ASB to plan 8th grade activities, Jr. Grad Night, and fundraising to support 8th grade events. Plan and execute Grad Night

 

COMMUNICATIONS: We need some folks to help prepare and send out our weekly e-newsletters, maintain our social media  presence, maintain the website, and assist with flyers and other marketing materials

 

FUNDRAISING: Both FoR & PTSA are looking for some go-getter parents interested in helping out with various fundraising campaigns.  Whether you have a talent for silent auction, walkathons, community donations or sponsorships, See's Candy Fundraisers -- we'd love to have your help!

 

COMMUNITY EVENTS: We'd love to get some parents to assist with planning some fun community meet ups. If you're a social person who wants to meet other parents, this is the gig for you!
