Team Reed is comprised of Reed MS PTSAFriends of Reed (FoR) and Friends of IHP (FIHP) booster groups.  These 501(c)3 nonprofit groups collaborate with our Reed students, parents, teachers/staff, and community to improve the educational experience of our students and families.

FoR & PTSA focus on school-wide events and fundraising that benefit all Reed students across grade levels and academies. FIHP is a booster organization focused on Reed's Individualized Honors Program (IHP) -- the oldest of its kind in LAUSD.

Welcome to the Team! Your family & student will automatically benefit from all the school-wide events and programs that are planned and supported by FoR & PTSA!  That is why most Reed parents participate with BOTH organizations and FIHP families with all three! We also encourage students, parents, and staff to "officially" join PTSA by becoming a member in order to vote and receive additional benefits. See the PTSA section below for more information.

REED MIDDLE SCHOOL PTSA

Reed PTSA is the heart of Reed. Every student is valuable! PTSA provides a way to support every student at Reed MS in a meaningful way -- both on our Reed campus and through the efforts of National PTA, the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the country.

Reed PTSA is a volunteer run, membership based, donation-funded 501(c)3 nonprofit association supporting all Reed students, staff, and families across every grade level and academy!

At Reed MS, PTSA aims to build community building through campus events and programs, with some FUNraising along the way to provide school-wide financial support for events & programs, academy enrichment, the school library, clubs, positive behavioral supports, staff appreciation, and more!

FRIENDS OF REED

FoR, which stands for Friends of Reed, is the school-wide fundraising engine of Reed.

A registered 501(c)(3) booster club, FoR fundraises to support all students school-wide! The Reed Community is strong and diverse and FoR aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students by providing the financial support behind major campus improvement projects, as well as 8th grade fundraising & grad night, and non-LAUSD sponsored field trips.

FRIENDS OF IHP

FIHP, which stands for Friends of IHP, is 501(c)3 fundraising booster (Tax ID# 95-4390665) that supports Reed's Individualized Honors Program (IHP) and its students at every grade level. The IHP program is the oldest continuous program for Highly Gifted Students in LAUSD (founded 1970).

FIHP focuses its support to this program and its families, while also working cooperatively with PTSA, Friends of Reed, and other school-wide groups that operate separately to benefit all Walter Reed students.  fihpinfo@gmail.com

WHAT DO WE NEED?

YOUR SUPPORT -  Your student benefits from the collective work of many.  There are several ways families can contribute...we call them the three T’s:

TIME - Show up and participate in campus events, attend FoR/PTSA meetings, and read our Newsletter.  You’ll be in the know!

TALENT - Join an Exec. Board or a Committee, become a Parent Academy Rep., or volunteer your skills to make an event shine!  You will help shape the course and direction of Team Reed while making lifelong friends.

TREASURE - Donate to the FoR Annual Giving Campaign and help us make needed improvements to our campus and bridge the gap on Reed's budgetary shortfalls. Join PTSA and donate to help provide enriching programming for our school community.

We look forward to meeting you and working alongside so many wonderful families. Most of all, we look forward to this next chapter in your student’s life and wish you all a year to remember.
